Certificate IV in Business Administration


Building on the skills gained through the Certificate III in Business Administration, this qualification will equip you with essential skills required to effectively lead and manage others within an administration environment.

As a student you will develop knowledge in the following areas: organising meetings, preparing financial reports, spreadsheets, complex documents, customer needs, identifying risks, WHS, networks etc.

Ways to Study

  1. Distance Learning – Learning material (i.e. books) will be sent out to you.
  2. Online – All learning resources are online – All assessments are to be completed online.
  3. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)– You may be eligible to receive credit for previous skills gained at work, please contact our staff to see whether you can take advantage of RPL course, as it will save time and money.

How Long Does it Take

Duration of qualification depends greatly on the student, as there is no minimum time frame. All students will however have a maximum of 2 years to complete their qualification.

Student Support

Students will be assigned a trainer with whom they can get in touch with during business hours through email and telephone.

Trainers are there to provide academic and enrolment information to the studentsFor students who wish to have extra help and require extra motivation will be assigned a coach. Our team of highly qualified coaches will keep in touch with you throughout your time with us, making sure you are up to date with the material. Coaches are also able to help students with planning their workload and are always happy to answer questions regarding their course.

  • How you will be assessed

    The learning materials and assessment within this qualification are in a written online or workbook format. Therefore, in order to successfully complete this course, you must have the ability to read and comprehend learning materials and undertake a variety of written assessments.

    All of your assessments can be submitted easily online. There are no exams to attend.

  • Entry Requirements


    The minimum age for entry into this qualification is 18 years.


    There are no formal entry requirements in relation to prior education and experience for this qualification. However, it is recommended that you meet the following criteria;

    – Successfully completed Australian Year 12 (or equivalent) OR
    – Successfully completed Certificate III or higher qualification(s) AND
    – Have at least 12 months work experience in a role that involves communicating with colleagues and/or customers both written and verbally AND
    – Sound literacy, numeracy and computing skills

    If you are not able to provide proof of the above, you must complete a language, literacy and numeracy test upon enrolment.

    The learning materials and assessment within this qualification are in a written online or workbook format. Therefore, in order to successfully complete this course, you must have the ability to read and comprehend learning materials and undertake a variety of written assessments.


    Entry into this qualification requires proof of English proficiency to an Australian Year 12 level or equivalent. Equivalency can be shown through the following;

    – Qualification completed in English at a Certificate III level or higher OR
    – A minimum of 2 years work experience in a position that involves communicating in English (written and verbal communication).

  • What you’ll need to study

    You will be provided with training material either online or in a workbook, a learner guide to supplement the training material and assessment activities for all units of competence.

    You must have access to the following resources;

    – Software such as Microsoft Work, Excel and PowerPoint
    – Adobe Acrobat Reader
    – Digital video recording device/digital camera (included in most mobile phones

    Please note; if you are not currently working and do not have access to workplace policies and procedures and other documents, your trainer and/or assessor will provide you with simulated samples or information regarding how you can access such policies and documents.
